I have been attempting to blog for months now, thinking that my first post had to be about something fantastic and over the top to get people reading. In the midst of trying to come up with the next great thing, months have gone by. And while I've been cooking and creating like normal, I haven't kicked this off with anything. I'm giving up the notion of greatness and just going for it, starting with one of my most favorite and simplest things I make for my coworkers.
I'll call them... "The Everything Bar."
This started as a way to use up whatever was in the pantry. The bottom layer is a plain ole sugar cookie out of a box pressed into the bottom of a pan to make a crust layer, about 20 oreo cookies pulled apart and laid directly on top of the uncooked cookies, half a bag of smashed up pretzels sprinkled on top of the oreos and topped off with a boxed brownie mix. Bake the whole thing together at 350 for about 20 minutes until it's all delicious. Cool and cut. The salty and sweet is outrageous. Swap reese peanut butter cups for oreos if you'd like a peanut twist. Throw in the whole pantry!
